How What I Learned in Girl Scouts Helps Madsen Avenue Promotions

How What I Learned in Girl Scouts Helps Madsen Avenue Promotions

I’m going to imagine for a moment that I was never a Brownie, Junior or Cadette girl scout. I will also imagine that I also never became a Troop Leader for my oldest daughter’s Brownie troop or later her Junior troop. That would mean I would also need to forget that my youngest who is currently a Daisy hasn’t afforded me time to enjoy troop events within the Apex area of NC.

Why would I try to forget these precious times of my life?

As I began to write this I realized that anyone who visited this page would automatically wonder, how could Girl Scouts have helped me in my business life? Those who HAVE been in the Girl Scout program would surely understand how my years as a scout & leader helped me in my business life (or would they?)

Here is the most simplest reason why… when you truly LOVE scouting and all it stands for these words become part of who you are as a person. I wholeheartedly believe them and do my best to honor them on a daily basis, even and especially in my business life!

The Girl Scout Promise

On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

The Girl Scout Law

I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.

If you want a business owner who exemplifies these characteristics – I am a phone call away! If you have any questions, please call us, we return ALL phone calls!

Live Tweet from a conference – brilliant idea! Super easy as well, in fact as the speaker if you create the hastag ahead of time and then share it with your audience the members of any group can begin to network and share while they are still THERE!!

# 10 –

Host a live Q&A period on any topic thru social media tied to your platform, another winner! Create the hastag, select a time, promote it just as you would an upcoming face to face networking, etc and then open your world up to questions from your readers & followers!

Is there information that not only you, but also your readers are DYING to know? If so reach out to an industry leader and ask them to allow you to interview them for your blog, it will automatically lend you credibility and give them free exposure at the same time.

I am a HUGE believer of contests, especially if the business you are promoting lends itself easily to holding one. Just recently I created and executed a contest for a client of mine, in a 2 week period it boosted their Facebook traffic over 500% (see graphic below)

waggers FB data

I find guest posts to be helpful and informative – the main thing I always try to accomplish is making sure the topic is relevant to your readers.

I have yet to investigate this on a first hand basis, however, it does seem like a great idea!

# 15 –

Build a Slideshare presentation, focus on a topic that is broad enough to entice most of your readers, and then be cognizant to write it at a level where they will share it with other colleagues who can also benefit from the material.

KNOW YOUR NUMBERS!! Not only will it help you, but sharing this data in an easy to understand format will not only build confidence within your clients, it will make them raving fans for your business!

HOMEWORK: before next week when I cover the next 8 ideas choose ONE from the list above. Then write, edit and publish a blog post using the idea as a framework. When you are done I want you to email the blog post to madsen.erika@gmail.com Be sure to let me know if you’d like any input and I will guarantee you a personal email response!

Google Now? Google What?

Google Now? Google What?

Eleanor A Guest Post By:
Eleanor Thorne Cary, NC Mortgage Expert 919-649-5057

Zillow just announced that it has cut a deal with Google to bring real estate to Google Now.

What the heck is Google Now? it’s basically a reverse Siri, an intelligent assistant that anticipates what you might need, want or be interested in rather than just responding to you.

It’s also probably the only thing that will ever get me to buy an Android device.

The service, which launched last year, proactively grabs or alerts you to things in categories like travel, sports, traffic, events, places and package delivery. Information is presented via “cards” that appear when you want them too.

Here’s how Google describes it:

Google Now gets you just the right information at just the right time.
It tells you today’s weather before you start your day, how much traffic to expect before you leave for work, when the next train will arrive as you’re standing on the platform, or your favorite team’s score while they’re playing. And the best part? All of this happens automatically. Cards appear throughout the day at the moment you need them.

Cool, right? But also more than just cool. This is a glimpse into a not-to-distant future where “search” – with its form fields, drop downs, filters and work – seems as insane as pulling over to use a pay phone. What you want will come to you in context because you have, through actions passive and deliberate, taught a big brain in the sky a little bit about who you are.

Of course, you might say that this is nothing more interesting than a push notification or even an email listing alert. And in a small way you’d be right. But what we see here is real estate’s first step into a wholly reimagined experience.

That is big.

Looking inward to the industry, I think this scrambles the “syndication” narrative a bit. For years, brokers have thought about this as sending their listings to Websites that compete with their own website. Or sending their listings to mobile apps that compete with their own app or apps.

But no broker has a Google Now.

I also think, paradoxically, that as Zillow, Trulia and Realtor.com take brokers to places to which they would not otherwise be able to go, those brokers increase their leverage. Because while brokers need to reach consumers in new places, the online players absolutely must do so. As the listings pipeline extends into new territory there is more of it to sabotage.

So what’s next? Will Apple seek a partner to add real estate to iOS just as they baked in local with Yelp?

Interesting times. More later.

My mom sold Real Estate with the use of a Multiple Listing Book that came out every few weeks… Newspaper “Reader” Ads, and word of mouth. Times have changed. Now, Real Estate is “viewed” and sold using the Internet, and it’s wonderful tools! I’ve been generating mortgage and Real Estate leads since October of 2007 – and I’ve lead numerous classes and conferences on Real Estate and Technology, trying to educate Real Estate Agents and Brokerages. What I’ve found, is that Agents really need to focus on the hard job of selling Real Estate. They don’t want to be Social Media Experts!

If you would like to find a professional that will manage those things for you… Call Erika Madsen she is very well versed in new technology that can boost YOUR business!
